Cindy and Opal were invited to attend a special event sponsored by Northeast Iowa Community College Department of Human Services and the Tri-state Independent Blind Society to answer questions about service dogs and provide a demonstration of service dog tasks. Opal is a certified demonstration dog with Paws with A Cause, trained by Cindy Ludwig who is a Field Representative for the organization. Paws With a Cause is headquartered in Wayland, Michigan and contracts with about 53 field representatives across the country to provide ongoing client support and training as well as presentations about service dogs, certification evaluations, needs assessments of service dog applicants, oversight and support of puppy raisers and puppy class instruction as needed. PAWS Field Representatives are experienced professional trainers who also have experience working with people. Paws With A Cause has been in business for over 30 years and trains hearing dogs as well as other assistance dogs such as seizure response dogs, dogs for children with autism and service dogs for people with other disabilities.
